The latest edition of the first book in this series is fully revised and updated to reflect the ongoing development of the PIC microcontroller range. Using the traditional 16F84A initially to introduce the basic concepts, it goes on to demonstrate the 16F690 and 16F887 in a variety of applications, concluding with a comparison of the full range of 16F PIC MCUs and related control technologies. This edition is supported with numerous working demo programs that can be run and modified in the free Microchip development environment MPLAB. The reader is then shown how to design and test further examples in the Proteus VSM interactive simulation environment. Hello Readers

 

The Programming and Interfacing books focus on the PIC 16F877A chip, which has now been superseded by the 16F887. Please substitute this in hardware implementations based on the designs in these books. The main difference is that it has an internal clock (default frequency 4MHz), so the external clock components can be omitted. Otherwise it is functionally very similar. There is constant evolution in the range and features of PIC microcontrollers; the most suitable chip for any given application should always be selected in the final design from those currently avaialble.
